Return to Engineering page

The BBC's first Chief engineer Captain P.P.Eckersley gave a talk on "The Early Days of Broadcasting" to the BBC Engineering Society in 1960.  The talk was recorded and made available on four gramophone records.  As can be seen on the labels below, several other eminent BBC engineers also speak on the recording.

The BBC's third chief engineer (renamed Director of Engineering) gave a talk on "40 Years of BBC Engineering" to the BBC Engineering Society in 1970.  This talk was also made available on a gramophone record.

Anyone interested in the subject will be fascinated buy these recordings.  In order to listen to a record click on an image below.
